Magmakammer - Mindtripper (New Full Album) Magmakammer is Psychedelic Garage Doom from Oslo, Norway. Mindtripper is their new full album, released in September 2018. Druggernaut opens the album. Our voyage is announced with the soothing tones of a mellotron, joined shortly by an assertive, bluesy riff. Don’t worry, those crushing doom chords come, but for now the trippy style of rhythm we’ve come to identify with Uncle Acid rules the day. Vocals greet us, barely obscured in narcotic haze. The song culminates in a delicious climax followed by a long, emphatic period of feedback that allows us to bask in the afterglow. “Please Don’t Let Me Die” pleads the album’s title track. “Mindtripper” captures the panic of a trip gone wrong beautifully. Starting wistfully with the mellotron and joined by a jazzy, psychedelic jam, the song opens in a state of bliss, but uncertainty is never far behind. After two bipolar cycles through this mindfuck, the song concludes with a moody callback to “Fat Saturn” to remind us that doom is never more than a step behind. Mindtripper comes to a head with a triumphant middle finger to the normies from all the stoners, junkies, and freaks. In “Cosmic Dancers” the tripper has finally achieved the glory of interstellar travel and glories about the stoic, godlike glory of seeing the universe fire on a million synapses.
