Fresh from being tagged as a BBC introducing ‘Featured Act’ by Melita Dennett, East Sussex dream-punks WINTER GARDENS are back with a new video for ‘Zigzanny’—the latest single to be taken from their debut EP Tapestry, set for release on 25th September 2020 via Austerity Records.

Commenting on the new single, the band say: “'Zigzanny' is simply a fun, energetic 'fairytale' that centres around a very juvenile outlook on love and teenage fantasy.”

“I had the idea for the video during lockdown,” says guitarist Jamie Windless. “With limited access for video creativity I set out to find stock footage I could purchase and manipulate. I chose the amateur Dortmund FC Sunday game as I felt the energy and passion of the players captured the energy and pace of the track so perfectly—the track oozes vitality, as does the frenzy and passion of amateur football, putting everything you've physically got into it. The game compliments those younger teenage feelings 'Zigzanny' emits with its simple lyrics.”

Taking influence from 80's post-punk, 4AD and Creation-era bands, Winter Gardens have developed their own sound combining ethereal, hazy dream-pop with the raw energy of punk. Through it all, the band wear their influences proudly, from the sonic soundscapes of early shoegaze to the atmospheric synth scores of Wendy Carlos.

Hailing from the South Coast of England, since forming in mid-2018, Winter Gardens have played numerous live shows across the country alongside Say Sue Me, Piroshka, Magic Wands and Penelope Isles, subsequently embarking on a UK tour with Acid Tongue and appearing at Rockaway Beach festival alongside Gary Numan and Echo & The Bunnymen.

Produced by Luke Marsden and band member Jamie Windless, the Tapestry EP was mixed by Luke Marsden, and engineered by Alex Gordon and Luke Marsden. The band will be revealing further details of the record and new music over the coming weeks.

Winter Gardens released the EP’s lead single and title track earlier this summer, with ‘Tapestry’ picking up a rush of early support from BBC introducing, UPSET Magazine, For The Rabbits, Breaking More Waves, Get In Her Ears, Backseat Mafia, When The Horn Blows and more.

The Tapestry EP is released 25th September 2020 via Austerity Records
