13 I'm Alive
Formed in 1977 by singer Nick Cash (ex-Kilburn and the High Roads with Ian Dury) 999 quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting and popular bands on the British live music circuit. Their first single 'I'm Alive' was released later the same year and sold all 10,000 copies in just a few weeks. This lead to the group being signed to United Artists and their second single 'Nasty Nasty' was also a huge success. With yet another hit single under their belt, 'Emergency,' they recorded and released their self-named LP, which proved a hit with both the fans and the critics alike.
When the original wave of punk finally crashed and burned in the late seventies, 999 still had a large cult following and were immediately accepted into the second wave punk movement of the eighties, thus continuing to tour, record and appear at festivals throughout the world. Today they are still very much alive and can still stir up frenzy amongst yet another generation of youngsters hungry for raw punk sounds. This film contains footage of a concert shot at the legendary Klub Foot at the Clarendon Hall, London on April 18 1984. Produced by the veteran Jettisoundz/Visionary video label it is a must for all collectors and a fine introduction to the band for the uninitiated. If in doubt call 999!!!
