The Academy Of Sun - Drone and The Quiet Earth (Live At St Mary's Church, 10th November 2019.)

In November 2019 The Academy Of Sun previewed the majority of our nearly-complete record The Quiet Earth within the magnificent chambers of St Mary's Church, Brighton, with a ten-piece ensemble. It was beautiful, incredibly moving event, live-streamed with a five-camera set-up and preceded by a marrow-soothingly elegiac DJ set from our favourites The Seance DJs. 21 Crows performed before us. They're amazing. The whole thing was beautiful and we miss performing enormously. This is the closest we got to launching The Quiet Earth before the world ground to a halt under the augurs of this ghastly and tedious pandemic. Nick had performed at St Mary's Church three times previously, the first being in 2009, and our relationship with all at the church is a very special one. Kianna Blue of The Academy Of Sun kindly edited together this beautiful document of the opening of the show, featuring the celestial Juliet Russell on vocals. After this performance, we then played with Mogwai at Brighton Dome and the day after that Nick saw Ennio Morricone's final ever European show in London, then the day after that flew out to Belgrade to commence a two-month tour with Toby Driver. Glorious times indeed. The Academy Of Sun will return in some form before long. We miss you. xoo
