On July 7th, 1992, Dream Theater released their majestic sophomore breakout, Images and Words. Their first album with frontman James LaBrie, the album synthesized their signature sound, launched their career into the stratosphere, and set a new standard for prog-metal virtuosity. To celebrate its 30-year anniversary, Dream Theater guitarist and co-songwriter John Petrucci looked back on his band's revered milestone, going through the whole album track by track to extrapolate on the history behind each song and what makes Images and Words such a uniquely beloved achievement.
