'Florida Man' lyrics: I'm a mess of broken pieces I'm the sum of every single part Didn't hear a word you said Just fuck me up and start again I'm fine with faking a smile To get you to stay I'm sorry if you felt uncomfortable Fill in the gaps in my brain While you're stood in the rain We're the worst best friends You'll be the death of me I've been wasting all my time right at your side clearing up the mess you got me in And when this summer's over I don't Want to see your face ever again I'm fine with faking a smile To get you to stay I'm sorry if you felt uncomfortable Fill in the gaps in my brain While you're stood in the rain We're the worst best friends You'll be the death of me Written by: Ellis Paul, Tomm Money, Harrison Spry Produced by: Tomm Money Mastered by: Steve Waltl Video by: Nico Drysdale Edited by: Ellis Paul

HOLDING OUT Push The Boundaries Of Their Punk Sound With New Single "Florida Man"

Holding Out 2019 Band Shot

Holding Out have returned and are aiming to push past the boundaries of their punk rock sound with their new single, “Florida Man.” Following the release of their much darker and heavier debut EP, “FED.UP,” which dropped at the end of 2018, the band are evolving and experimenting with their sound by incorporating some new influences, especially with this new single.
“We try to constantly evolve our sound and experiment with different genres. With ‘Florida Man’ we went for a style that is not as ‘heavy’ as some of our previous songs, and we’re happy with the result,” vocalist/guitarist Ellis Paul says about the song, “The name ‘Florida Man’ came about from the amount of news articles we saw circulating Facebook describing an individual from Florida doing something bizarre. The song is about spending time with a friend to the point of you loathing each other, but you care about them too much to let them go. There isn’t really a ‘message’ behind it as such, but I’m sure someone out there could relate to it.”
Drawing influence from acts such as PUP and Tiny Moving Parts, the song mixes energetic and eclectic instrumentation and more melodic vocals, showing how the band continues to experimenting with different styles of punk and alternative music.
