Ian Prowse is back with some socially distanced live September dates!

Ian plays the following solo shows this autumn :

5th Sep : Rainford Junction, St Helens
12th Sep : Katie Fitzgeralds, Stourbridge
13th Sep : Chester Alexanders
16th Sep : Wigan Doc Symposium
17th Sep : Prince Albert, Stroud (Sold out)
18th Sep : Weston Super Mare Loves
19th Sep : The Islington, London

Ian explains how the new dates are working…

“With most of my Story Of Ian Prowse acoustic tour sold out myself and promoters are very much thinking outside of the box to make sure music returns to these shores.

Of my 7 September dates, promoters and venue owners are employing different ideas including: moving the shows outdoor (Rainford, Chester, Stroud), moving the venue (Stourbridge, Wigan) or I'm offering to do 2 sets in those venues with limited opportunity for social distancing (London, Weston) , so nobody is disappointed. For me it's a team effort, if the promoters or venue owners are showing willing by going the extra mile to make sure the show happens then I'll reciprocate and sing for longer if needs be, we just have to get the whole damn thing moving again so I really don't mind putting an extra shift in for the cause of live music.

We just have to be flexible right now, open our minds to what can be done, let the music do the rest. If these shows work then hopefully come November, December we can go back to more of a normal setting.”

The Story of Ian Prowse is released via Kitchen Disco Records now.

The Merseyside songwriter and frontman from Amsterdam and Pele is a cult figure with music fans and stellar musicians. With hits such as the John Peel favourite ‘Does This Train Stop on Merseyside’ and the mighty singalong ‘Fireworks’ track. His 2019 album ‘Here I Lie’ was released to widespread critical acclaim.

His 2019 album lead to Elvis Costello personally inviting Ian to be main support on his UK tour starting on the album release day. Available online and at his UK shows,
The Story of Ian Prowse is packed with eighteen tracks of golden songwriting spanning thirty years.

Heartache, Injustice and the maddening wonder of this life has been the driving force behind the story of Ian Prowse’s career as a musician, singer and song writer. If you could boil the last 30 years and eight official albums down to one word it would have to be… conviction.

The absence of a big hit single means Ian isn’t necessarily in the hearts of the masses, but his songmanship has kept him firmly in the minds of songwriters like Elvis Costello, Christy Moore, Baz Warne (from the Stranglers), Miles Hunt (from The Wonder Stuff) and Damian Dempsey. Both Elvis Costello and Christy Moore sing duets with Ian on this album.

The people who have welcomed Ian Prowse into their own stories have become fierce devotees of his music. Whether it be from his first band Pele, Amsterdam or as himself. As Ian himself says “Pele, Amsterdam, me, it’s all the same thing, they’re all a vessel for my songs”.

“I hit the opening A minor chord of Funeral Pyre by The Jam at my very first gig in 1982, there began my musical journey, I've been hitting every chord through hundreds of shows with the same passion ever since.”

Here's some of his best recordings so far, it’s a story of one man’s music. And we’re sure he’s not done yet.

Ian Prowse supports Elvis Costello on his 13 date UK tour in Spring 2020.
