Why would I run for president
In a world that's full of shit
I'm so scared of getting older
But I'm not getting any younger
I'm just doing what I oughta
But I'm not gettin' what I'm 'sposed to
Hard to believe
It isn't free
Hard to see
It isn't me
I'm finding it hard to hold on to
I'm finding it hard to hold on to
What if the world cracks
Will we ache
Relax my jaw bones
Will they break
I'm so scared of falling over
But I'm not getting up from under
I'm just doing what I told ya
But I'm not getting what I'm 'sposed to
Hard to believe
It isn't free
Hard to see
It isn't me
Hard to breathe
Or so it seems
I'm finding it hard to hold on to
I'm finding it hard to hold on to
Hard to see
It isn't me
Hard to breathe
It isn't free
Hard to believe
Or so it seems
I'm finding it hard to hold on to
Cuz it's hard to see
It isn't me
Hard to breathe
It isn't free
Hard to believe
Or so it seems
I'm finding it hard to hold on to
I'm finding it hard to hold on to...
“SWAMP ASS” Video out Dec. 24 / EAT SNACKS AND BLEED EP out Dec. 25
It’s gonna be a punk rock Christmas this year. From the sunny banks of southern California,
all-womxn group Egg Drop Soup are dropping their music video “Swamp Ass” the day
before releasing their 2nd EP, “Eat Snacks And Bleed.” The project was conceived from the
creative chemistry of vocalist/bassist Sam Westervelt and guitarist Olivia Saperstein. “Olivia
and I just have this telepathy in our songwriting,” Westervelt says. The two had previously
played in another LA local band before forming Egg Drop Soup in 2017. Travis Pavur of
Glassell Park’s Golden Beat Recording Studio has been working with the group ever since
as producer, engineer, and mixer for all their tracks.
The artistic renaissance between Westervelt and Saperstein has proven very prolific over the
last two years, and now with Bailey Chapman on drums, the group unfurls their first music
video together as a trio. “Swamp Ass” is shot in a gorgeous house deep in farm country,
California, by director Augie Duke and cinematographer Dexter Wandel. The video is a nod
to both The Virgin Suicides and Sharp Objects and features the group dressed in ‘80s prom
gowns, dancing, dosing themselves, and commiserating over tea and tarot-card readings.
“We’re stuck in this time warp, dealing with issues of self worth and peer pressure,”
Westervelt says about the video. “The repetitive nature of existence is all we feel,
sometimes. We’re isolated from the outside world now in a lot of ways.”
With crushing chords, drop-dead beats and don’t-give-a-f&*k lyrics, it’s easy to see the
group on tour in the future with bands like LA Witch, The Paranoyds, and Surfbort.
