Claustrofobia is a Brazilian death/thrash metal band from São Paulo formed in 1993. The band is considered one of the seminal underground extreme metal bands in Brazil, with fans around the world, particularly in the United States of America and Eastern Europe. Since their inception Claustrofobia has remained active in the underground metal scene, becoming one of the most important death thrash metal bands in Brazil. The band has toured through South America and Europe, sharing the stage with Iron Maiden, Slayer, Soulfly, Destruction, In Flames, Brujeria, Napalm Death, Vader, Krisiun, Helmet, Hate Eternal, Ratos de Porão, Paul Di'Anno, Anthrax, Testament, Sepultura and Kreator. Claustrofobia did a cross-country USA tour with Master in the summer of 2019 before heading back to Brazil to open for Slayer's last show in Brazil on 2 October 2019. Two days later, Claustrofobia went on to play the Palco Sunset Stage at Rock in Rio, in Rio de Janeiro, on 4 October 2019.
Brazil has produced many metal bands: Sepultura, Cavalera Conspiracy, Soulfly, Krisiun, Sarcofago, Troops of Doom, Ratos de Porão, Torture Squad, Dorsal Atlantica, Holocausto, Vulcano, Angra, Korzus, Mutilator, Nervosa, Crypta, Claustrofobia delivers unrelenting death thrash metal at high speeds with heavy grooves. Taking after where their predecessors Max & Igorr Cavalera left off, the D'Angelo brothers are also an exceptional rhythm section. Killer riffs galore with a barrage of hard-hitting hammering drums.
