Diamond Head – "Am I Evil" live, Rock Hard Festival l 2018 | Music Video - WDR Rockpalast
Founded in 1976 in the British Midlands, Diamond Head is one of the most influential metal bands of all time. Unfortunately, the band never became as successful as it should have been. In 2018, Diamond Head performed at the Rock Hard Festival, where WDR Rockpalast recorded their concert and, among other songs, their song “Am I Evil.”

Working-class teenagers Brian Tatler (guitar) and Duncan Scott (drums) founded Diamond Head with a borrowed guitar and a drum kit made from a cookie tin. Shortly before finishing school, the band was complete with bass and vocals. Frontman Sean Harris was an absolute stroke of luck: handsome, charismatic, and with plenty of stage presence.
Diamond Head's big role models were bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Motörhead. The sound that they and other bands like Iron Maiden developed from these influences at that time was the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWoBHM), a genre that later became known simply as heavy metal and has had a decisive influence on all hard music from the 1980s to the present day.
Diamond Head's studio albums are still celebrated by the entire metal scene today, and the band's most prominent fans include Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, Megadeth, and Metallica, who have covered numerous Diamond Head songs.
However, Diamond Head never achieved great success with the public: although they were signed by major label MCA in the early 1980s, they were dropped after just a few years due to lack of success. Inexperienced management and many unfortunate circumstances led to two complete band breakups and numerous lineup changes. The band has been active again since 2000, with guitarist Brian Tatler as the only member from the original lineup.
