Eagles of Death Metal (also known as EODM) is an American garage rock band formed by Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme. Although Hughes is the frontman of the group, Homme is the best known for his work with Queens of the Stone Age and as a former member of Kyuss. The band regularly changes line-up. For example, Tim Vanhamel, singer/guitarist of Millionaire, played on the first album of Eagles of Death Metal, Peace, Love, Death Metal. The band is part of the Palm Desert Scene. Eagles of Death Metal was formed in 1998 in Palm Desert (California) during the Desert Sessions Volumes 3 & 4. They wanted to create a sound with influences from the band Canned Heat and the Polish death metal band Vader. The band played on Josh Homme's The Desert Sessions. In the following years, Homme was somewhat distracted from the band by the success of Queens of The Stone Age, but in 2004 he drummed up Hughes and his friend Tim Vanhamel to record Peace, Love, Death Metal together. This album received a lot of acclaim from the press and a few songs were used in commercials for Budweiser and Nissan, among others. In 2006 the second album, Death By Sexy..., followed, but this time without Vanhamel. In 2009 their third album Heart On was released. During a concert of Eagles of Death Metal on November 13, 2015 at the Bataclan theater in Paris, a terrorist attack took place, in which 89 concertgoers were killed. The members of the band managed to escape through a back door. An employee of the band was killed, another was injured. The band's further European tour was subsequently cancelled, but the band did perform together with the Irish band U2 at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris on December 7, 2015. For the survivors and relatives of the victims of the attacks in the Bataclan, the band gave a replacement concert on February 17, 2016. Because the Bataclan was being renovated at that time, this concert was given in L'Olympia. This also established the European Welcome to the official Pinkpop Archive YouTube channel!
