HAVVK make moving tribute to women through poignant new video!

HAVVK have now shared the powerful new video for their latest single Always The Same, which spins female objectification on its head. Everyday women are made to feel uncomfortable, exposed, or in fear because of their gender. Always The Same asks men on the other side of that equation, especially those who have ever taken offence to women not returning their attentions, to question their sense of safety and entitlement and imagine what it’s like to walk down the same street in someone else’s shoes. Catch HAVVK live at Servant Jazz Quarters, London on 6th December 2018 - Tickets.

HAVVK spin female objectification on its head with pulsating new single Always The Same, out on 23rd November 2018 via Veta Records.
Frontwoman Julie Hawk elaborates ,“It’s only in recent years that it’s occurred to me how many of my daily decisions are made with this unconscious effort of weighing up safety and I’ve started to imagine what daily life would be like without a constant sense of caution ready to bubble to the surface”. Always The Same showcases the soaring power of Julie’s vocal at its most intense, combined with sharp, staccatos of guitar and thrashing drum beats, to create HAVVK’s most compelling release to date.
HAVVK originally formed in London in 2015, and have since split their time between London, Dublin and Berlin. They have collaborated with Belfast based producer Rocky O’Reilly (And So I Watch You From Afar, Touts, Brand New Friend) for the last two years to help develop their unique sound. In addition to their musical endeavours, Julie has also co-founded SelfMade - a platform to explore DIY music in Ireland through performance, discussion, and art, and last year launched Female Fronted Drawn Together - a project through which she has created a playlist of admirable female bands/musicians and created an illustration to accompany each song.
HAVVK have previously received support from Noisey, The 405, Stereogum, Wonderland, DIY, Clash, and The Line Of Best Fit to name but a few. They have also been praised by the likes of BBC 6Music’s Lauren Laverne, Tom Robinson and Chris Hawkins, as well BBC Radio London and Radio X. Combining an abrasive edge with an exquisite finesse, activism is at the heart of all HAVVK create, with their music covering a range of topics including inequality, gender-preconceptions, and generalisations faced by different social groups.
Always The Same -  taken from HAVVK’s debut album, due in 2019 - is out on 23rd November 2018 via Veta Records.
